Krista Holland, RYT
Krista Holland has had a lifelong passion for the movement and healing arts. She was first introduced to Eastern philosophy, mysticism and various practices of meditation at an ashram in India at the age of twelve. Inspired by seeing her mother's Ashtanga yoga practice, she began practicing Hatha yoga in 1989. Her teaching is informed by her in-depth studies in yoga, Tantric philosophy, sacred drumming, ecology, permaculture, aroma-psychology and the contemplative arts. Krista is gifted at teaching all levels of students, from those just beginning yoga to advanced practitioners, she is known for her passionate, insightful and transformative teaching.
Training
Krista has been teaching yoga since 1998. Her practice has been nurtured and guided by many wonderful teachers branching from the Krishnamacharya lineage. She has completed four teacher training courses: Rod Stryker (Para Yoga 200 hrs, completed in 1997), Ana Forrest (Forrest Yoga 200 hrs, completed in 1998), John Friend (Anusara Yoga level 1, completed in 2000) and The Center for Yoga, L.A. (Anusara Inspired with Diana Beardsley 200 hrs, certified in 2002). She has studied Prana Flow extensively with Shiva Rea in both India and L.A. through her Samudra Program. She has also been greatly inspired by her apprenticeship with Layne Redmond as well as her studies of Anusara Yoga with Desiree Rumbaugh. Krista acknowledges her mother Nadine 'Garimo' McMains, as being her most beloved and influential yoga teacher.
Classes
Krista’s yoga classes are an invitation for students to delve deeply into the transformative power of yoga’s sublime benefits. Her classes guide students through a moving meditation that begins from a foundation of breath awareness and contemplative focus and journeys through a fluid sequencing of poses that stretch, strengthen, challenge, balance, and nourish the full-spectrum of body and being. The synergy of meditative awareness, deep focus on the breath and intelligent sequencing create a supportive and transformative environment. Her classes are designed to inspire students to connect to their own inherent strength and suppleness, pure consciousness and perhaps, a bit of bliss.
Dharma
Krista’s life-path is devoted to discovering and sharing the tools and inspiration that lead to a holistic, conscious and integral life. Her quest is fueled by passion and gratitude and is guided by the great wisdom traditions. She continues to evolve her studies through personal apprenticeships, attending workshops & retreats, studying sacred text and through the insights of personal practice.
